I saw this on BBC and immediately thought
they better not open it up to suggestions for candidates  I can think of a whole cabinet full of candidates  >whistle<

I studied astrophysics and worked on a few (unmanned) missions.  Therefore I know people who work for NASA and ESA.

Having thought about it, there may be about 600,000 (according to the DWP) willing to go.  As this is possibly a one way trip as coming back will put the Marsonauts in a wheelchair or worse, why not send people who are already used to this before they go.  Or, is this an alternative for some an a trip to Dignitas?
