2014 Hopes dreams and goals
« on: 29 Dec 2013 08:58PM »
I won't use that dreaded resolution word so just wondering if anyone has kind of set themselves any goals for the year? Hopes and dreams? What would you like 2014 to bring you?

This is going to sound incredibly pessimistic, but my principal hope is that 2014 will be no worse than 2013. This year has been pretty rough in places, but it's nearly at an end, and I'm still here.  :-)

I'm aiming my wishes higher than that for you, NN (and everyone else who's had a pants year overall) - not a mere 'no worse', but 'one hell of a lot better'!  Nothing less is deserved  :-)

My first goal is to try and get my anti-psychotic medication reduced when I see the doc for my 'M.O.T'  in January.  And my main hope has to be (sorry, folks) ESA-based, ie that my JobcentrePlus personal adviser will continue to be understanding and not push me towards further work-related activity until I am ready, if at all (sort of hoping that I might uncap a well of greater motivation for stuff like that if I have less sedating drugs floating around in my brain!)

Well what I'm hoping for isn't for me directly as such.

I'm hoping the great wizard of Oz will give a heart to Cameron so he can feel for those less fortunate than himself.

A brain to IDS so he can at last understand the great harm he has done.

And courage to Clegg so he can tell Osborne to get stuffed.

Oh yes and to provide the stuffing required.

Be careful in what you wish for, God has a sense of humour

I'm working towards re-motivating myself.  A giant step is required.  But this is not a wish, it is what I will do

I am in agreement with Dic.   >lol<

I think Dic has captured my broader hopes perfectly!!!  But failing those things I would settle for IDS being sacked both as a minister and an MP!!!!

On a personal level -

I hope to get through my next round of heart surgery without complications (probably in February / March, I don't have a definite date yet) and without worrying my lovely partner, friends and family too much.

I hope some colleagues and I will be successful in getting some funding for a further piece of research with disabled students (initial decision in March, if we get through the first stage final decision will be July I think).

And finally I'm looking forward to a lovely opportunity: I've been invited (expenses paid) to speak about disabled students at a conference in Stockholm in May, which should be fun!

regards, Deb

thanks Auntie and NN

I think the stuffing should be the Tory and Lib Dem manifestos from the last election ...

My hopes aren't high either.  Just to remain as well as I am, currently, would be wonderful.

I agree with this ^^

But on a personal level, I hope for

1: Michael Schumacher to survive and make a full recovery
2: to get through the year without losing any family or serious illness
3: to survive WRAG and make it through my next ESA50 without having to go for an intensely stressful medical.

1) To make it through the year without any major medical problems for me or the rest of the family.

2) To get my pain under control so that I can do more.

3) To visit Norway, something I've wanted to do since childhood, and spend time with some nuns there.  If I can get a bit better they might ask me to join them.

4) The appearance of a very bright comet, easily visible from the Northern Hemisphere, next winter.  Or a very bright supernova, with the same conditions.

5) For the Conservatives to be exposed as the evil, selfish liars they are.  And for the Lib Dems to be seen as the power-hungry, unprincipled cowards they are.

Sadly, given the state of the media, I think both things in no. 4 will happen before no. 5.
Look carefully at the avatar, note what's barely visible in the gap in the rings.  I've highlighted it for you.

To move closer to getting support for my Mum and myself.

To move closer to getting a little place of my own.
